The Fundamental Horse

How balance and harmony are essential to our horse’s physical and emotional needs.

Creating muscle beyond riding.

Concentration will be on the anatomical structure and movement of the horse.

Understanding how the horse maintains his posture innately and how we can encourage him is our focus.

  1. An overview and break down of the horse in sections (jaw, withers…shoulder, top line, torso, lower back, hips, sacrum) will be presented to understand how each part of the horse is connected to the other for ultimate movement. This connection also follows through in how the horse holds or releases tension.
  2. Palpation and exercises respecting the instinctual anatomical structure of the horse on the ground and in the saddle.
  3. Understanding how a horse needs to position his body to land appropriately to sustain balance. How we can assist and how we sometimes hinder.
  4. Evaluating our horse’s environment and how making it as innate to a horse as possible can alleviate muscle and musculoskeletal strain.

This seminar will enable you to develop a deeper insight into your equine friend’s likes and dislikes. You will learn how to continue strengthening him mentally and physically where riding leaves off.
